A scrimmage is like a mini-tournament that provides team with valuable experience in head-to-head competition with other teams, without the pressure of an actual tournament. Most scrimmages are hosted by an FLL team which wants to provide an opportunity for other teams to get together and share ideas, and a chance to practice their FLL skills. These events are typically held in September - November leading up to the official FLL competitions in November and December.

Workshops can be from a few hours to a full day of concentrated training and the sharing of ideas between coaches and teams. These are often hosted by FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) teams as part of their outreach activities.
None scheuduled at this time.
Typically, summer camps provide two or more days of training for students in all aspects of the FIRST LEGO League program including robot building, programming and strategy. They often will also provide help with FLL project concepts, research and idea sharing methods. Like workshops most Summer Camps are put on by FRC teams.
FRC team 4096, Ctrl-Z - Central Illinois Regional Chairman's award winner, is holding two 1 week camps for incoming 3rd-5th graders July 8-12 and July 15-19 in Champaign. For more information, see the SYRA website http://syra.team4096.org/
Robo Raiders, a local FTC high school robotics team, is hosting an FLL summer camp in Belleville, Illinois for students in 2nd - 8th grades.
Each summer, the Robo Raiders teach half day, week-long camps for students entering 2nd-8th grades. During these camps, we use Lego robot kits to teach the basics of programming, core values, problem solving, and provide students with a FIRST Robotics themed challenge to complete and showcase at the end of the week.
Intro to Robotics is for students entering 2nd-4th grades and uses the WeDo platform. It will feature the Moon Mission challenge from FIRST LEGO League Junior.
Robotics I is for students entering 4th-8th grades who have no previous robotics experience. Using the NXT LEGO robot platform, they will learn basics of drop and drag programming, sensor use, and finish off the week with the Into Orbit themed challenge from FIRST LEGO League.
In our Robotics II Advanced camp, we provide an opportunity for kids with experience in FLL programming to learn advanced EV3 programming, build more complicated attachments, and test their problem-solving skills with the Into Orbit game challenge.
